Face to face with mountain gorillas in the forests of Bwindi.
There are around a thousand mountain gorillas left on earth, and nearly half live in Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This is the journey to stand quietly among them.
The centrepiece is a permitted hour with a habituated gorilla family - a hush of black fur, deliberate eyes and the occasional thump of a silverback's chest, an arm's length away. Around it we build a calm, well-handled few days in Uganda's misty south-west.
You travel privately, stay forest-edge, and trek with the rangers and trackers who know these families by name.
Met at Entebbe and transferred south-west by scenic drive or scheduled light aircraft, settling into your forest-edge lodge by evening.
A dawn briefing, then into the forest with rangers and trackers to spend your permitted hour with a habituated gorilla family.
A gentler day at your pace - a Batwa cultural walk, a waterfall trail or birding.
Transfer back to Entebbe. The 5-day option adds a second trek or a Lake Bunyonyi extension.
