Make it part of a longer trip

This is the perfect first or last evening of a Uganda trip — light on logistics, easy on jet-lagged guests, in walking distance of the airport. Pair it with Mabamba Shoebill Half-Day → the following morning to start strong.

Good to know

  • Long-sleeve layer for the breeze after sunset.
  • Sunblock + a hat for the first hour.
  • The lake can be choppy on windy days — we re-route or reschedule if conditions don’t allow.
  • Kid-friendly from age 4.

FAQ

Is the boat motorised? Yes — a 4-stroke outboard, quiet enough not to spook the birds.

Are there mosquitoes? On the water, very few. On the jetty at dusk, some. Bring repellent if you’re sensitive.

Can I see a shoebill from this trip? Possible at the wetland edges, but not the goal. For a near-certain shoebill sighting, take the Mabamba half-day in the morning.
